2 The Danish Maritime Fund
A commercial foundation established in 2005 The objective is to offer financial support to initiatives that will grow the Danish maritime industry The means of the Fund derive from dividends from the 10% share of Danish Ship Finance – since founding, over DKK 700 mill. Governed by the Board of Directors, appointed by Danish Shipping (two), Danish Shipping – Ferries (one), Danish Maritime (two), Ministry of Industry, Business & Financial Affairs (one) The Danish Maritime Fund is a private, commercial foundation. Our purpose is to support initiatives that overall serve to strengthen and grow the Danish Maritime sector – be it in the shipping, shipyard or manufacturing industries The Fund was established in 2005 and our base capital derives from an ownership of 10% of the shares in Danish Ship Finance. Dividends from the shares are each year flipped over to donations and loans for our activities, and we have sofar over the years donated over USD 100 mill.

3 The donation policy The maritime sector - The Blue Denmark - comprises 25% of Danish export and is thus the highest yielding export sector. We are globally the 5th largest shipping nation and the 7th largest maritime industrial nation. Our donations and loans shall: Support The Blue Denmark by means of non-profit grants or loans for early engagement financing Be of instant value to Danish shipping companies, shipyards and manufacturers of maritime equipment Support innovative and future-oriented initiatives Have a catalytical effect Create new jobs Support maritime activities, that supports/can be linked to UN’s 17 SDGs Our absolute focus is to strengthen what we call the Blue Denmark. The Danish maritime sector comprises of 25% of the Danish export and is thus the highest yielding export sector. Thus our donation policy is reflecting exactly that. We are here to support the Blue Denmark, creating values for companies operating in the sector. We want to support innovative projects with the overall aim to strengthen the sector and create new jobs.

4 We support in the following areas
Product and business development, innovation, concept and system development Research within technology and business development Education, program development and recruitment campaigns Maritime conferences and events Political initiatives and activities that support the promotion of the Blue Denmark internationally

5 We act as incubators for a substantial number of projects
Over the years, we have supported close to 800 projects of which some 650 are non-profit and remaining are commercial projects with financing offered via loans on favourable terms Grants comprise over DKK 650 mill. Abt. DKK 450 mill. to non-profit initiatives and abt. DKK 200 mill. kroner to commercial projects via loans In past four years, donations and loans make up for: 40% Product & business development 22% Research 27% Education 11% Conferences/events/political initiatives Siden Fondens etablering har vi støttet et anseligt antal projekter. Hovedparten har historisk været af almennyttig karakter med over 600 projekter. Af større almennyttige projekter, kan nævnes World Careers kampagnen, phd/post doc forskningsprojekter på universiteterne DTU, SDU, Aalborg Universitet og CBS. Herudover et stort antal MBA legater, som I som virksomheder og organisationer også har haft gavn af. Vi støtter også meget gerne erhvervsprojekter, hvor vi er glade for at se, at antallet er projekter er steget støt de senere år. Men vi vil gerne se endnu flere. Vi vil rigtigt gerne være med hands-on som fødselshjælpere for den rigtigt gode ide og produktvikling. Både i veletablerede , men særligt også for start up/scale up virksomheder, der har brug for støtte til det næste step for det innovative koncept. Den erhvervsmæssige støtte ydes i form af lån med op til 50% af projektets omkostningsbillede på meget favorable vilkår. (i alt 615, fordelt 443 og 172)

Financing up to 50% of the project budget on very favorable terms Early engagement capital (loan) to start-ups (high risk) Growth loans to projects in scale-ups (moderate risk) Loans to R&D in the SME segment (moderate risk)

8 Grants to support research, education and recruitment
We have donated about DKK 250 mill. kr. to research, education and recruitment or 35% of all grants and loans. Research, education and recruitment is thus the largest area of support. Universities (DTU, CBS, KU, ITU, SDU, AU, AAU) Maritime and business schools Scholarships to MBA and shipping diploma studies Worldcareers.com Som nok allerede nu er gået op for jer, er vi i Fonden meget optagede af at støtte uddannelses- og rekrutteringstiltag. Vi kommunikerede for lidt over et år siden, at vi ville afsætte 25 mio til sådanne formål, og vi prioriterer fortsat PHD og maritim MBA studier Herudover støtter vi med legater til studie og praktik ophold i udlandet for de maritime skoler , erhvervsskoler og ingeniørstuderende Også udvikling af talentprogrammer og nye maritime efter- og videreuddannelser og kurser med en maritim vinkel er prioriteret. Endeligt støtter vi helt praktisk initiativer vedrørende -moderne undervisning med f.eks. erhvervelse af nyt digitalt udstyr til skolerne, og særligt ser vi med glæde en række initiativer, der inkluderer virtual reality i undervisningen.

9 Financing to commercial projects via loans on special terms comprise abt. DKK 200 mill. (abt. 30%)
Project examples: Start – ups - Upteko, Scoutbase, Dana Dynamics Scale - ups - BAWAT, C-Leanship, Ballast Water Monitoring SME – Desmi, Viking Life Saving, OMT, G&O Maritime Group Large enterprises – MAN, Danfoss, Maersk Supply Service Vi støtter som sagt meget gerne start-ups og scale ups, og i forhold til fynske virksomheder, er der her en række virksomheder, som vi har støttet de seneste par år. Vi glæder os over at kunne yde højrisikolån til jer, og ønsker held og lykke med den yderligere udvikling og markedsføring. Inden for SMV segmentet, hvor vi yder lån af mere moderat risiko karakter og typisk inden for projekter omkring R&D, kan vi nævne CC Jensen som et godt eksempel på, hvem der har fået støtte her på egnen.

Digitisation, optimisation, automisation – within both business development and operation Climate agenda – CO2 neutrality Relevant maritime activities supporting UN 17SDGs Attraction of the right technically educated and digital natives to the maritime sector Ikke at vi nødvendigvis er dem, der skal opfinde nye retninger, men jeg tror, det er vigtigt, at vi som Fond er meget på forkant med generel indsigt i strømninger. Vi har en pligt til at forstå, hvad der rører sig i vores sektor globalt indenfor både politik, reguleringer, demografi, transportbehov, næste generationer og deres interesser, mv. 1. Der er måske et for Fonden uudforsket område på det felt, der hedder FNs 17 verdensmål – Som initiativer, er vi meget fokuseret på miljø og sikkerhed, men jeg tror, der er et potentiale i, at vi som Fond medvirker til at støtte dialogen om SDG og dermed ansporer potentielle ansøgere til at kigge på/perspektivere hen imod det. - Som udgangspunkt tror jeg, vi i DK i maritim kontekst har en førerposition i forhold til de fleste af målene. 2. Endnu et vigtigt spørgsmål er, hvordan vi klarer os som sektor i næste generation, og dennes efterfølgende generation. – Med de initiativer, vi har støttet på uddannelse og rekruttering er der mange gode tanker, men er der noget, vi overser, og som vi via støtte bør facilitere dialogen for? 3. Vi kan selvfølgelig ikke forudsige, hvordan transportsektoren og den maritime industri ser ud om 30 år. Der er allerede sat tydelige ambitioner for miljømæssige tiltag i både FN og EU regi, også Maersks egen ambition om at være emission fri i Men er der nye mønstre i geopolitiske bevægelser, ny teknologi og koncepter, vi allerede nu kan forudse? Jeg synes personligt, det er vigtigt at holde det langsigtede perspektiv for øje, stille os nogle måske helt vilde spørgsmål, selvom vi ikke har svarene, når vi opererer med det mere kortsigtede perspektiv.
