‘The cognitive and social skills which determine the motivation and ability of individuals to gain access to, understand, and use information in ways which promote and maintain good health. (It) means more than being able to read pamphlets and make appointments. Health literacy fokuserer på patientens/borgerens færdigheder Har patienten/borgeren kompetencer til at forstå og omsætte viden og information om sundhed? Er sundhedssystemet tilpasset patientens niveau? Støtter sundhedsvæsenet og uddannelsessystemet patienten/borgeren i at udvikle health literacy? Sundhedskommunikation fokuserer på sundhedspersonalet færdigheder Kan sundhedspersoner kommunikere forståeligt og effektivt med patienter/borgere? Får patienten/borgeren større indsigt, viden og forståelse? Health communication focuses on the skills of the health professional Does the health professional communicate effectively with patients? Lectures Group exercises Cooperation with other on abstract and poster Self-led learning Presentations will mostly be in Danish Discussion and course work and course materials will be in English You will have time to study on their own to develop your understanding of health literacy and use in different contexts You will expand your understanding by working with other students in small groups to develop a scientific abstract and a poster (which you can keep after the course!)

7 Eksamensform Individuel mundtlig eksamen, hvor forskellige aspekter af kurset udforskes (grundlæggende begreber og deres anvendelse på enkeltpersoner, familier, lokalsamfund og sundhedsorganisationer) Posteren bruges som ramme How will your learning be examined? Individual oral exam, where various aspects of the course are explored (basic concepts and their application to individuals, families, communities and health organizations. The poster is used as a framework
