1 Unit 1 English Summative Assessment, Poem

2 Poem- Se Den Lille kattekilling
nummer enogtres

3 In ENGLISH!!! Look at the little kitten It’s so sweet,
it has fine white paws and a fur coat so soft It can say meow and purr just like its mother Like it’s mother it will soon learn to find where the mouse lives Small mouse come out of the hole come and play tag don’t you want to play with the little cat No, I may not, is what my father and my mother say, for they say that it was you that ate my brother No it was not it was the smith’s old cat he lives in Århusgade number sixty one

4 What is the poem about This poem is about a little cute kitten that wants to play with a mouse. The mouse doesn't’t want to play with the cat because it is a cat and mice are afraid of cats. The mouse says that the cat ate its big brother , and the mouse uses this as an excuse for not wanting to play with the cat.

5 A picture I chose this picture because that when I
think of the poem I always think of a picture like this in my mind.

6 Technique 1: Rhyme Rhyme: Example of Rhyme: Effect on the audience:
hen hvor musen bor” Effect on the audience: The effect on the audience when using rhyme is that the words are pronaunced harder with more emphasis and it creates a beat. In this poem the words are pronaunced longer because of the Danish letter ø and the Danish soft d. In this particulier rhyme, the words give the reader the idea that it is a perfect, cute, little kitten.

 nummer enogtres Rhyme scheme: Stanza 1: Stanza 4: A, B, C, B J, E, K, E Stanza 2: Stanza 5: D, E, D, E L, H, M, H Stanza 3: G, H, I, H

8 Technique 2: Animals talking
Example of: Animals talking ”Lille mus kom op af hullet kom og leg tagfat har du ikke lyst at lege med den lille kat” – cat says this Effect on the audience: It causes the audience to have a better relationship with the animals, and it allows the animals to do humanlike things. Also this is a child song, and the child most likely will be more interested in the song if the animals talk. The effect it has on the song is that it makes it more lively.

9 Technique 3: Line breaks
Example of Line Breaks: “Den kan sige miav og spinde
ligesom sin mor” ”It can say meow and purr just like its mother” Effect on audience: When using line breaks it causes the reader to make a pause before reading the next sentence, this makes the rhythm different. Most likely the poet has made line breaks for a reason, maybe for because he or she wants to make you pronounce the word before the line break for a longer time then usual.

10 My favorite line from the poem
Lille mus kom op af hullet
kom og leg tagfat
har du ikke lyst at lege
med den lille kat Little mouse come here come and play with me don’t you want to play with the little cat I like this line because its kind of ironic, because of course mice don’t want to play with cats
