Usability 24. marts 2004 1. Tilgængelighed 2. Dagens øvelse 3. Spørgsmål

2 Tilgængelighed? 1. Konception:  Standarder (WAI’s WCAG samt Section 508)  Kriterier (WAI’s kontrol 1 punkter, i England og Australien ligeledes kontrol 2 punkter)  Testmuligheder (Bobby, Cynthia, WAVE) 2. Anvendelsen af hjælpemiddelteknologi Output:Skærmlæsere Skærmforstørrere Punktskriftsapp. Input: Tastaturgenveje Fodpedal-tastaturer Pandepegepinde (&c.)

3 Hvorfor tilgængelighed?  Politisk (adgang til offentlige websites)  Etisk (lighed)  Økonomisk (’good business’)  Teknisk (søgemaskiner, browserkompatibilitet)

4 Hvorfor tilgængelighed? (2) Sammenlignende studie med 1000 mennesker hvoraf halvdelen havde funktionsnedsættelse: Adults with disabilities spend, on average, twice as much time online as adults without disabilities who are not [sic] (20 hours per week compared to 10 hours per week). Adults with disabilities are much more likely than adults without disabilities to report that the Internet has significantly improved the quality of their lives (48% vs. 27%).  Adults with disabilities are also more likely than adults without disabilities to report that the Internet has helped them to:  Be better informed about the world (52% vs. 39%)  Feel connected to the world (44% vs. 38%)  Reach out to people with similar interests as [sic] experiences (42% vs. 30%)  Conversely, adults without disabilities are slightly more likely than adults with disabilities to say that the Internet has significantly helped them communicate and socialize with close friends, relatives and neighbors (49% vs. 42%). Humphrey Taylor ”How the Internet is Improving the Lives of Americans with disabilities” (Taylor 2000).

5 Tilgængelighed og brugervenlighed Usability and accessibility go hand in hand, and one without the other is not much use in the real world. If something is too difficult to use or if users [med funktionsnedsættelse] get lost all the time, they won’t benefit much.
