9 Installation af Operativsystemer Winnt32.exe har aldrig rigtig dækket virksomheders behov. Scriptede installationer er tidskrævende og ikke gode til større udrulninger. Mange benytter Image værktøjer. Installer én gang og genbrug installationen. Microsoft har også benyttet image konceptet: •RIS – RIPrep and RISetup images, ikke traditionelle ‘images’ •ADS – Sector baseret image format til Server Deployment •XPe – Sector format til embedded devices •SMS OSD – Fil baseret WIM-image, første version
