9 Despite the fact that the wet scrubber is a well-known technology; it is not directly applicable in livestock buildings, due to the following specific conditions: Ventilation air and, thereby water, contains organic dust, ammonia and low concentrations of many different odorous components. (multiple pollutants) A relative large amount of water will be needed. The wet scrubber performance should be effective at variable air volumes, controlled by the ventilation system. The requirement for reduction of offensive odour and dust emission depends on the wind direction and the relative location of livestock buildings and neighbouring houses.
